C-DAC Mohali successfully concluded the two-week Specialized Training Programme on Social Media Innovation with AI and AR for a 19-member delegation from Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS), held from August05th to 18th,2026 under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The delegation comprised Producers, Reporters, a News Editor, Cameramen, Visual Editors, an Assistant Visual Editor and a Graphics Designer, representing diverse professional roles across broadcasting and digital media.

Welcoming BBS Participants at C-DAC Mohali

The programme provided comprehensive exposure to Mass Communication and Media Practices, including an insightful session by professors from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Participants were introduced to contemporary media practices and the evolving role of technology and Artificial Intelligence in communication, broadcasting and digital media, with a focus on enhancing content creation, audience engagement and professional media workflows. An expert lecture by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) provided insights into the functioning of the press, the government communication ecosystem and information dissemination. During training participants were given hands-on exposure to more than 12 AI tools covering the complete media production workflow, including script development, audio generation, video creation, editing, enhancement and post-production. Practical case studies on themes such as Bhutan Tourism and Disaster Management, along with the creation of a documentary capturing their training, field visits and experiences, provided participants with an opportunity to apply AI-assisted scripting, shooting, editing and post-production techniques in developing real-world media content, while fostering creativity, teamwork and hands-on learning.

The training was complemented by visits to All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan Kendra Chandigarh, Panjab University’s Jyotirgamaya Community Radio 91.2 MHz and the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh. These visits provided practical exposure to radio broadcasting, television production, community radio and media-related technological infrastructure. The BBS participants particularly valued the visits to AIR and Doordarshan Kendra, where they were able to relate the broadcasting workflows and facilities to their professional responsibilities at BBS.

The programme also featured cultural and educational activities, including a study tour to Amritsar and visit to the Golden Temple, Rock Garden and Art Gallery in Chandigarh. These activities provided valuable opportunities for cultural exposure, informal interaction and professional networking.

The training was conducted under the guidance of Sh. Ajay Mudgil, Scientist-E and Head, Education & Training Division, and Dr. Manjit Kaur, Scientist-E and ITEC Coordinator. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Himanshu Rajak, Project Associate. From the ITEC Cell, Ms. Amritpal Kaur, PTO & Assistant ITEC Coordinator, Ms. Asha Rani, STO, and Ms. Shabnam, Project Associate, played vital roles in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the programme, with valuable support from the technical, administrative, purchase and finance teams.

To mark the successful completion of the programme, a Valedictory Ceremony was held on August 17th, 2026, followed by a farewell celebration for the BBS delegation. The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Manjit Kaur, ITEC Coordinator, followed by the valedictory address by Shri V.K. Sharma, ScientistG and Centre Head, C-DAC Mohali. Centre Head congratulated the participants on successfully completing the programme and appreciated their enthusiasm, active participation and keen interest in applying AI and emerging technologies in media and broadcasting. He encouraged the participants to leverage the knowledge and skills gained during the programme in their professional work and to maintain continued professional linkages with C-DAC Mohali.

The participants shared their feedback and expressed appreciation for the hands-on learning, practical case studies, field visits, cultural exposure and warm hospitality extended by C-DAC Mohali. They highlighted the relevance of the training to their professional roles and the potential of AI tools to enhance contemporary media production.

The programme concluded with the distribution of Course Completion Certificates by Shri V.K. Sharma, Shri Ajay Mudgil & Doordarshan officials. The subsequent farewell celebration provided a warm and memorable conclusion to the programme, reflecting the professional, cultural and personal bonds developed between the BBS delegation and C-DAC Mohali.

The successful completion of the programme reflects C-DAC Mohali’s continued commitment to international capacity building, technology-enabled learning and knowledge exchange under the ITEC framework. The BBS delegation departed with enhanced professional skills, valuable connections and memorable experiences from their training and stay at C-DAC Mohali.
