On the occasion of the AI in Agriculture programme, jointly organized by C-DAC Kolkata and ICAR-NRIIPM, Delhi, on January 09, 2026, Shri Sudeep Shrivastava, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), visited C-DAC Kolkata. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the Centre to benefit from his guidance, insights, and encouragement on its ongoing research, development, and innovation initiatives.

During the visit, Shri Shrivastava was briefed on a wide range of R&D activities, including advanced research programmes, technology development projects, and application-driven solutions being undertaken at C-DAC Kolkata. He interacted closely with the scientists and technical teams and showed keen interest and enthusiasm while witnessing live demonstrations of several key systems and platforms developed by the Kolkata Centre.

The Joint Secretary appreciated the quality, depth, and relevance of the R&D work being carried out at C-DAC Kolkata, especially its strong alignment with national priorities and the vision of Digital India. He also expressed his satisfaction with the Centre's progress in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) generation and acknowledged the consistent efforts being made towards patent filing and protection of indigenous innovations.

Shri Shrivastava encouraged the Centre to further strengthen its IPR ecosystem in the coming years, highlighting the importance of structured innovation, timely patenting, and effective translation of research outcomes into impactful technologies for the nation.

Overall, the visit served as a strong motivation for the C-DAC Kolkata team. Shri Shrivastava's guidance and appreciation reaffirmed MeitY's confidence in the Centre's R&D ecosystem and inspired the team to continue contributing meaningfully towards cutting-edge research, technology development, and national capacity building in the areas of electronics, information technology, and digital innovation.
