eSanjeevani – National Telemedicine Service
eSanjeevani- National Telemedicine Service, a cloud-based system plugging the digital health divide.
Brief Description
eSanjeevani – National Telemedicine Service
eSanjeevani is an indigenous, cloud-native telemedicine platform developed by C-DAC Mohali to address critical healthcare accessibility challenges, including the shortage and uneven distribution of healthcare professionals, limited access to specialist care in rural and remote areas, and gaps in continuity of care.
Leveraging secure, scalable, and standards-based digital technologies, eSanjeevani enables seamless virtual consultations between healthcare providers and patients and facilitates coordinated care across different levels of the healthcare system. Designed to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and optimize the utilization of healthcare resources, the platform helps overcome geographical barriers and promotes equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare access for all.
eSanjeevani is available in two operational variants designed to address diverse healthcare delivery requirements:
(a) Doctor-to-Doctor (Assisted Telemedicine) Model: Connects healthcare providers at Health and Wellness Centres with doctors and specialists at higher-level healthcare facilities, enabling access to specialized medical expertise for patients in rural, remote, and underserved areas.
(b) Patient-to-Doctor Model: Enables patients to consult qualified medical practitioners remotely through a secure digital platform, providing convenient access to outpatient healthcare services from their homes.
eSanjeevani is a flagship Digital India initiative that is transforming the delivery of primary healthcare across the country. It has emerged as the world’s largest telemedicine implementation in primary healthcare, enabling large-scale access to quality healthcare through digital technology.
As of 16 August 2026, eSanjeevani has facilitated over 493 million consultations nationwide. More than 240,629 healthcare providers have been trained and onboarded on the platform, which is operational across more than 1,41,707 spokes supported by over 19,362 hubs. The platform currently hosts more than 892 online OPDs. It has recorded a peak of over 630,315 consultations in a single day and currently facilitates more than 282,000 consultations daily, with the underlying technology augmented to support close to one million consultations per day.
Recognizing its scalability, resilience, and potential for population-scale digital health delivery, eSanjeevani has been offered as a Digital Global Good for adoption beyond India and is featured among the 12 population-scale, state-of-the-art applications in the India Stack. The platform has played an important role in ensuring continuity of healthcare services during public health emergencies and contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Through its population-scale digital health infrastructure, eSanjeevani supports India's journey towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
